what tool would you use for resealing a tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i,m a tiler and when we seal baths in we tape off to nice strait lines put the silicon in the gap and spray it with window cleaner then smooth it down with your finger workes a treat the old water on the finger works but not dryes out quick and i don,t sugest puting water on the silicon coz the window cleaner will evaporate quicker well good luck

I taped out all corners into the size of beads I wanted. Then I laid out the silicone in the whole tank, smoothed it all back with my finger and a touch of water,I then pulled all the tape and it looks like the factory sealed it!

Windex does work wonders....I just didn't have any at the time, and I let my tank cure for 7 days before a 7 day leak test, so I wasn't worried. It turned out perfect.

for big tanks .. i use tape to tape the width out that i want .. then apply a healthy bead .. then use my finger .. remove the tape right after and it takes all the extra off and makes a nice clean line .. every tank i get i reseal like this .. always looks like new ..

tape method sounds interesting, my tool of choice is a 2''x2'' piece of cardboard lol. Works wonders on .25''-.5'' seams. I like Pharoh's idea of cutting it to the shape of the blue rubber tool also.

I use my finger and dip it in rubbing alcohol to keep it from sticking.

I tape it off first to like Iffrat suggested.

ya tape workes wonders we use it at work to seal the tiles it doesn,t even look like silicon looks like all the other grout joints after we remove the tape we go over the joins with window cleaner again and smooth out the feathering from the tape being pulled up when i do it on my tanks i go over it with metholated spirits once the silicon has set to clean off the window cleaner

Caulking gun and talent!
