If you REALLY want to, try a sideneck, they tend to be ok with anything way too big to swallow.

Softshells are a bad idea. They have the attitude of a snapper.

softshells will need a basking spot.....and are pretty agressive. id say no to a softshell

I have no idea what you guys can get in the UK. I imagine you could get one. They are very common over here so they're not endangered or anything. You should PM Davo and ask him.
