You don't want to breed a mixed varient fish. Notice the stripe across the eye of the bigger kigoma.. that's what they should all look like. It's always possible when buying from a fish store that they are mixed or bad quality burundis. If you're interested in having a colony and breeding, go online and buy from a reputable breeder. It'll probably be cheaper than buying from a lfs and you'll have nicer quality fish. A great resource for fronts and varient information is cyphos.com.

Thank you very much for that web site..i will definitly look into buying the best quality Frontosa i can.. they are absolutely beautiful fish.. i especially love the way the white in between the stripes looks like irridescent pearl... the longer i have mine and the better care they receive enchances their appearence so much since we first got them.. they are just really awesome and so glad i decided to include them in our tanks..
