What type of Elong. is this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmm, wish i was an expert with elongs, but i am not :(

I can see some dark shading on the head, however it is definably not dark enough to be a black mask. I am going to ware-fully put my money on a regular...

Looks like black mask to me, just the black isn't showing that much. But it clearly has a humeral spot and that is the main distinction between the two. Stress or water perameters could be the reason why the mask isn't as full and dark like it should be, when I imported my elongs that was the only way we could tell the regular ones from the black masks, they were so stressed out from being in a bag for 2 days that they had no black at all on them for a week.

The Elong was just imported a week and a half ago and there was a terrible mixup in boxes and ended up being 5 hours longer in the box than it had to. There were 4 in all and this is the sole survivor. It is in good shape and eating very well. It is obvious that the fish has been stressed so yes I would imagine there could be some color loss. The importer sent me an e-mail today confirming it is a blackmask. He said that the tail is solid black and no red on the fish. Thanks again for all help.

P.S I did order it and I will get it on Saturday:D

The store owner is even throwing in an extra bonus fish because I waited patiently to see if the fish would survive its trip in from Venezuela.
