why do you say not compatible with africans? small african no because a jag can eat them but large africans are perfectly fine. most likely you jag will see no african as a threat and leave them all alone.
your right, cause its not like jags go from this:

PM this guy in a few months and see how his jag worked out with his africans. The general rule in keeping cichlids is not to mix africans with americans, I don't see why a jaguar (of all fish) would be an exception. The jag is going to outgrow those fish in 6-8 weeks and tear them to pieces one by one. Tankspace is going to be the biggest issue on wether or not that combo will work.
I would be more afraid of the jag getting destroyed by the auratus at near equal sizes the jag would not stand a chance

some africans get to be 6 inches. ive seen ca and african mixed before as i also have ca and africans mixed now and they have been that way for along time. my jag is about 13.5 inches while my red jewel is 4.5 inches and blue dolphiin is 6 inches. never had any problems. if you look around on the site you can see other people keep them together as well. but you need africans that are large enough not to get eaten.

jewels and dolphins are not mbuna. jewels and dolphins don't mix well with mbuna either. they aren't mean enough. they have closer feeding requirements to the jag than mbuna do. high protein diets will kill those mbuna and the jag won't do well on a vegetable diet. i would take the jag out.

Desipe all the coments about mixing Africans with Americans which i agree it can work with some mixes but defently not all i hear some africans carnt eat blood worms so there diet deffently is different. The jag itself looks like it will grow to be a very atracktive jag. look at the colour of him hes great.
