What Type Of Frontosa Is This?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Definitely not a kapampa. Kapampa's have a zorro mask on their face. Burundis have a stripe going down their face. I would talk to the seller and tell them that they sold you a burundi. Good luck.

That is a typical burundi type frontosa. If you bought it from a online seller or business you might be able to pressure them to send you the correct fish for free (by threatening to expose them and name names) but if it was a private seller just selling their own fish then you will have alot more problems getting it corrected. I would contact them and send a copy of this thread to them, ask them to refund your $ or send you proper fish. Tell them if they dont then you will post a thread naming them and describe your experience here and at every fish website you can find on the internet. They wont want that, it can ruin them if they do this as a business.

Sorry you didnt get what you paid for. I got ripped off online with a black sand purchase. It doesnt feel good thats for sure.

BTW your fish is a nice looking example of a burundi, they could have sold this fish easily since it is nice looking. They just wanted more money for it. Greed is a bad thing.

I have a 6 stripe whom I thought was kigoma... he's my only 6 stripe and the other seven fronts all have 7 stripes... some people tell me he could be a burundi also... check him out...

the big patch under they eye says kigoma, so even though he has 6 I would still stick with that. Could be a throw back or missing a stripe from bad genes in the family. Just my thoughts

They came from the same breeder, so I'm assuming he's kigoma as well. Thanks for the info Mike!

Thanks for all the feedback. I bought them from someone I know and no harm was meant by it. These are the first Frontosa's I've ever kept so I apologize for the ignorance. Only recently I started doing some research on the different locales. I didn't pay much for them when I purschased them at about 2". Maybe $15-$20 a piece. Now that I have seen Kapampas I think I may "need " them. The alpha male (not fish in pic) has great colors compared to some of the Burundi's I have seen on-line. Oh yeah and thanks for the ideas on leveraging my position. I will save for the future and hopefully not have to use.
