what type of gar would work best?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would go for something a little bigger than a Florida, like a trop or cuban. Of course, ravenous cats don't usually do too well w/ gar, so I wouldn't really recommend one in the first place, especially something w/ rtc in it.

oh..... i might have change my mind on the gar then

Maybe reconsider the cats, that tank will eventually become to narrow for them once they pass 3' that would make an awesome gar tank though.

this tank is only temparaily once my kids born (augst 17) im "allowed" to start a monster concrete build in the basement

If you can upgrade to a small pond or even one of those 6' rubbermaid tubs then I would say get the Gator Gar. They are such an amazing fish and even more so as a pet. It will change your life for the better.
When I get up in the morning and I know I have a long day ahead of me I always stop in the Gator Gar room and say good morning and seeing him give me strength to "attack the day". I just think like he would and any issue that come my way I just ****in attack.

agree with the above statement. another thing to note, it's probably even worse if you're thinking of trying this with longnose or shortnosed gars...
