What type of geophagus are these?

Okay so we a leaning toward crassilabrus or pellegrini?

Scroll down and you'll see that Dean Hougen posted one of his juveniles. It looks just like these fish. IMO the ones in your video don't look like Satanoperca.

Some pictures of young G. pellegrini look very similar as well.

I've never kept juvies of either species so I don't know how to distinguish them. I know Amazon Exotic has pictures of some small wild-caught pellegrini that look similar: http://amazon-exotic-import.de/Gallerie/Cichliden/Seiten/Geophagus pellegrini Red Type.htm

I'd say wait until they're a bit bigger and the color starts to come in, then post some updated shots of their markings and colors.

Steini juveniles look pretty similar, too. I'm guessing it will become more obvious as the colors develop. That's the problem with a lot of young geos... they look so similar until they're about 3 - 4".

im not sure if there steini because my steini fry i raised are about 3/4 inch and they already have color. just my opinion tho

Yeah it is hard to tell.. It def looks like a 'stein body type' though.. So its gonna either be a stein, pellegrini, or crassi, imo.

My guess is geophagus pellegrini but i never owned any "stein" type geos but it looks pellegrini to me, very nice
