What type of severum?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great list Craig. Post us some pics on the severums thread in the photo lounge. Notatus just finally became available over here. Rapps had a spawn so lots of folks have 1" notatus at the moment. There also been a lot of really nice atabapo's available. But not a lot else at the moment other then rotkeils and the commons.

Aye, I'm on a UK based forum that occassionally gets Rapps orders sent across, but we missed out on the Notatus this time. Mine came from Czech republic... its like a secret fish factory over there at the minute. Turning out some lovely fish.

Interesting fish though the notatus, a few of us have kept over the years on this side of the pond. Aggresive compared to H.Efasciatus but stunning when the get some size on them.

Fingers crossed i should get a spawn out of mine sometime this year.

To be honest, theres so much variety in personality and appearance in H.efasciatus that theres a fish house sized collection in itself in the one species.

Personal favourite (Not mine, its in france at the minute) Heros sp. Curare

Aye, sort of, the clear fins are the strange bit (all the known species show red anal fins ;) ) and none of them show full black, contant barring, they only show stress baring.

Personally, i had my doubts til i stumbled on this pic of a similar fish being caught... they'll be over here some day ;)

Apparently up in Venezula (importers, get your snorkels on)

If only there wasn't so much turmoil down there we would already have them. I guess it gives us something to look forward too! I'm sure there are plenty more great looking sevs out there waiting to be collected.

Aye, the pollitical situation is doing nothing to help Imports from that part of the world.

Certainly going to be some very differant Heros coming into the hobby in the next decade. Seemingly the more northern / inland a species the better its colouration. so Venezuala will be a real hotspot for this family (and probabley many more)
