LOL..My Bad!! lol your right!! all are awesome... but Ive been looking for a heros red spot santarem! I cant seem to find one out here at all...

As memory serves, sp "santarem" are the same sub species as sp. "Tapajos"... if not, then very close (i believe the red face mask may vary)

Nice fish by the look of things. Never seen them in the UK (either sub species)

yes Craig...here is a pic..

Craig is correct. I have 2 of these and they are getting redder by the day. Rapps had them in stock about 6 months ago, so they do show up in the trade.

I believe Ken Davis also had some that were very similiar not long ago. Might still have a couple if you ask.

Aye, Even the big man himself sometimes resorts to "shop names"...

I imagine because 99% of Heros keeps dont really care about catch location / sub species, so they come across as H.efasciatus or H.efasciatus "rotkeil".

Im having a nightmare trying to trace any imports of H.spurius on this side of the pond for the same reason. if its ever been collected for the hobby, its 99% posative its come in under H.efasciatus (if at all) over the last 160 years.

Annoying to say the least

Technically I believe they are efasciatus. He had them lable as H. efasciatus wild caught from the Rio Tapajos. Until they are properly described and changed I believe efasciatus is the proper name at the moment. Heros Efasciatus sp tapajos is what I call them.

If someone has a different name that is correct please let me know. But that is what I will use until then.

Jeff had them labled exactly like this.

Heros cf. efasciatus 2-2.5” 15.00 wild sp. ‘red spot Tapajos’ severums!! Incredibly colorful race!
