Plenty of keepers have had their Syno. multipunctatus spawn in home aquaria. Often times the story goes that the keeper didn't even know he or she had a spawning pair of catfish till they stripped a female mouthbrooding cichlid (Tropheus or mbuna) and out came a bunch of little catfish.
I've seen videos of catfish in the action pop up now and again. Run a search on youtube.
