What was/is the largest fish you have?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a 28" snow flake moray, and currently have 2 pacu that are only 13"+ now but growing fast.

I also have a tilapia that is about 15" long. Length isn't everything, those pacu are MUCH bigger than the tilapia or eel despite being shorter.

I think we should add rules: just list the fish you have had that are over 12" and 1 pound or so. I got a 15" marbled catfish, biggest fish I've ever kept atm and still growing.:grinno:

i was curiuos to see what the max size the common person could keep until they needed to build a public scale aquarium. it is interesting to see how people will keep some monsters.

If you all could list the fish AND aquarium size that would be interesting as well

If you've seen them 5'+ it's not a niger. The largest I have ever seen was around 40" and that's huge since planet catfish has them topping out at 39"

I've had a few fish over 30"

2 silver aros
1 niger
27" RTCxTSN
Mrs mass polly has a 45" as I recall.

Myself would be a clown knife I kept for many years that grew to a little over 24" in a 220.

A 5' arapaima that jump out of his 1,500 gallon tank.I like that fish so much a had it mounted. It hangs on my wall. The tank was to small just like John at house of sam I had a tank 15,000 gallons built.I am looking to buy some arapaima's for the tank.

20 yrs ago I kept a Jardini in a 180g tank. He finally reached the length of 23" and was just too large for the tank. I sold him (it was a very sad day) because I could stand to see him cramped in that 180g anymore. He was an absolutely stunning fish. He was never fed live food.

I had a 26 inch pacu that racked in over 11 pounds probly never was able to weigh him. He died in 07 great fish. Not for every person and every tank
