What was the highest amount you paid for a polypterus?

Where I am virtually any poly other than a sen is getting close to $100 (getting better lately with cb ornates and endi). Most I paid was $120 for my weeksi plus $80 in air fare to have it brought in.

I think my most expensive was my pair of mokes, $80 each plus the cost of shipping. The weeksii may have been more than that though, I don't remember.

Wow burbot, what part of Canada are you in? Even I can get a larger variety at a fraction of that price and I'm literally in the middle of nowhere.

James, I am in Alberta--Grande Prairie then Calgary for the past 6 years. The situation has improved the past couple of years with the LFS starting to bring in CB types like ornate, endi and more recently Dels.
My first Del back in 2001 was $99, when I came back to Calgary in 2005 and really starting to get into poly's it was really bad with places like Riverfront charging 100+ for any "fancy" bichirs. I actually found it cheaper to have an order from Canadian Aquatics in Vancouver flown in then stuff locally.

I know you mentioned you found some laps at big als back a few years, great deal that I wish I could have found.

I recall Riverfront being rather pricey. Haven't been there in many years though. The last fish I bought there were at a small mom and pop place run out of a garage. It's no longer in business though. They had some great stock and good selection. I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing the rainbow snakeheads. They were still legal here at the time. Now I'm out of luck for owning those ones.

James, agreed on Riverfront being overpriced. They recently moved out of the downtown and now are even worse price wise. The frustrating thing is they are often the only ones to bring in the non standard LFS fish. They still have a great selection of snakeheads.
