I was fishing off a pier in Texas with my daughter when she was really young. She was pretty proud of her Snoopy pole I started to real in what I thought was a crab...and pulled in a like new Okuma Rod and Reel
I took it up to the closest bait shop and put a few signs around (I did open up the covers and quickly rinsed it out and sprayed it down with WD-40 first). No one claimed it, so after a few weeks I picked it back up. Man, I loved that outfit! Smooth as silk!
a 5 foot christmas tree somone dumped in the lake, and a 110 pound alligator snapping turtle. its head was the size as one of those small kids basketballs
Cool story....last year fishing in the 60 acre "lake' in front of my house with my kids with bobbers for bass and sunfish.....i hook and nearly land a 25-30lb Snapping turtle......The beast snaps the line at the pole tip as soon as it could use its weight......it swims off very tired about 30 feet and up pops my bobber. It disappears and then pops up like the Kegs in Jaws several yards away. The kids were terrified and then amazed.....they named it Bob.....we followed the bobber for an hour while we fished.....a canoe crossed nearby and Bob popped up yards away from it.....my kids were screaming bloody murder like a shark was about to eat the canoe.....priceless.......
Ive caught some odd stuff, hub caps, a toad, a beaver
one of the best was on opening day a few years ago and I thought I had a big trout on but when I reeled it in it was two sneaker tied by the laces, got a good laugh out of that
not mine but I was with a friend fishing and he was bringing in a nice little rainbow trout when an osprey snatched it up that was quite the experience
i wasnt there for this one but my brother had a seal steal a mackerel off his line before
a common one around here when deep sea fishing is gannets, spectacular birds seeing them go up a hundred feet and dive straight down, but when your fishing mackerel the last thing you want to do is have a gannet get hooked on your line
a bird with 6-7ft wings is not fun in a boat with 10 other people
