i've bought some MTS [Malaysian Trumpet Snails] but it seems that these snails are good for the roots of plants, eating left overs, and the substrate.

:headbang2 Dankz in Advance Guys~

we had a couple different kinds of algae in our biggest tank.. bought chinese algae eaters that quickly became food for the pbass and RTC. So that didn't work..

then we got 2 extra plecos.. just common plecos, i don't care what they look like as long as the janitorial duties are taken care of.. but the twins had other ideas.. and for all of hoover's trying he just couldn't keep up.

so.. i was wandering around ebay.. and saw one of the folks selling mystery snails.. i bought 10 yellow mystery snails. took them about a week before we started seeing a HUGE difference.. and now.. about 2 months later, we have NO visible algae and i'm dropping algae disks in the water after the lights go out every other night.

With snails just make sure you have a preditor or get ones that dont infest. You could be selling off one prob for another. Always research like you are doing and try to let every one else learn the hard way!

1. Stop using the lights for a while until the algae dies.
2. Buy a sponge and clean the tank.

if it is real hard to get off the glass you can use a razor blad it will scrape almost anything off.

i agree with chompers.

I agree with Euge, that, or mystery snails they lay pink eggs just above the waterline so infestation isn't a problem.

Deffinitly cut down on the light use... how many hours a day do you have it on? Mine are on a timer, they come on at 5pm and go out @ 10:30pm.

i wud go with feifeng for 3 reasons!

1. they look way nicer than pleco and snails
2. they are very hardworkers
3. theyre not poopmachine like plecos and snails.

not that its totally relevant but apparently fei fengs have 2 stomachs and one is filled with muck kinda like filter bacteria that help break down ****... thats why they poo less
