What will this oscar look like as an adult?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm sorry to say that most adult Oscars I've seen don't have that pattern. I think it'll lose most of it's pattern as it gets older and it will probably have some red around the belly and the ocellaris spot will become more pronounce.

So nobody has a before and after shot of a juvie like this?

When I bought him I never expected him to look this way for long (I say he keeps the pattern 4-5months tops), but I'm impatient and want to know what he'll look like :nilly:

It won't take long to find out - if well fed and offered regular W/C it'll grow well quick :)

i dont think he'll turn out like a red, isn't he a tiger?

Yeah he's a tiger sort of, but have you ever heard someone call their oscar a 'walnut' oscar? It's basically a nickname for tiger O's that have this 'maze' type pattern, instead of the spaced out 'stripes'.

My point being that I had one of them 'walnut' type tigers and when he was around 9" he looked like a red oscar or a half way point between a red and a tiger.
