sounds good thanks for the info. I didnt want to put it in my tank and have it screw something up but I really liked the piece and since it was all dried out I was hoping I was good to go.

Agreed. I was thinking it looks like split, dried oak. Which is fine to use.

Well I am going out today to try and find a piece of rock I can attach the wood too because it still hasn't sunk. It's been soaking in the bath tub for a while and is still leaching a lot of tannins so it will give my tank a nice look.

I bleached the hell out of the wood till it turned white lol. I put it in the tank today, and I added a capful of prime just in case I didnt use enough in the tub. the wood is too tall for the tank so I have to pull it back out and trim a few inches off the top.
