what would be a good ray to start off with?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I started a thread similar to this a few weeks ago, and the feedback that I got was that if you try it in a tank smaller than a 180, its inhumane, and if you try it in a 180-240 or so, you are going to be doing a lot of water changes to keep up with their waste production, and after that, things get a little easier. They never really become an "easy" fish to maintain(i.e., there's no way around weekly water changes and maintenance), but they are CERTAINLY worth a little extra work and money put into a good system.

For a full grown male motoro (MUCH smaller then females) a tank with a foot pring of 6'x2.5' would last a LONG time. For a pair, 8'x3' would be great and at least 300gallons.

LoL but I do TEMPORARILY have four 8-10" motoros in a 125. I do not recommend this unless you really know what you are doing.
