What would be a good tank mate for Bichirs ?

With dats it's better to go with 1 or 3. 2 bicker unless there is a considerable size difference.
I will be starting a thread in a lil bit my LFS finally got in what I have been waiting for.

Yes, Dats would work.

Most cichlids, even aggressive ones, will ignore Bichirs. I would add a Goldsaum.

Cown loaches, juruparis [nice chiclids] and catfish would work. Oscars are very messy, i hear that once they are big enough, you have to feed them hamburger and hotdog slices. If you have any plecos bigger than about 6 IN they tend to suck on the bichrs soft bodies and it could couse serious damage to them.

I would go with gars buddy, awesome fish that arenot aggressive and are only a problem if they are big enough to eat the bichers

i think you've gotten your oscar info from some bad sources.

with the original question i like severums or dats as a tankmates. in a larger set-up even something like tinfoils,
a thought i had w/ my endli's when they're big was distichodus anyone tried this?
