JD's are very hit or miss when it comes to personality. The majority of the JD's I've kept were usually cautious, elusive, and at times skittish (i.e loud noises, or quick movements). Although dithers can help, JD's never really fit the "wet pet" personalities you see in RD's, Green Terrors, Midas, etc. IMO, most hobbyists keep them for their striking adult coloration, and not really for their outgoingness (or lack there of). A young juvenile JD begging for food, doesn't really reflect their adult personalities. As for dithers, my JD's were fine with a group of Lake Kutubu Rainbows. However, the dithers had no significant impact on the shyness/personality of the fish.
