Thank you for the help. I wasn't sure if I should use the scientific name but I learned my lesson I will next time to save my self an over the internet tongue lashing:chillpill: I will upgrade when necessary or get rid of it I am a experimental but also responsible fish keeper
Where was the "internet tongue lashing"? Or do you consider someone who was trying to help by using a scientific name to lessen confusion attacking you? I use scientific names to lessen confusion as common names change from vendor to vendor and hobbyist to hobbyist. So it makes sense to use a scientific name. About the only person I did correct was zapatower and that's because he referred to Scomberoides as the true Saber Tooth and that was for your sake. The confusion between Hydrolycus Scomberoides which is a appropriate scientific name and Hydrolycus Armatus also a appropriate scientific name is a common one. I was trying to prevent you from accidently purchasing a Scomberoides from a vendor thinking it was a Saber Tooth and then being disappointed if it was struck down by sudden death syndrome. The only other suggestion I made and it wasn't regarding scientific names was posting your question in the Characin section and that was also for your benefit. As those who know about GATF's whose scientific name is Hydronycus Goliath and who would be able to help you better are in the Characin section. It's like me asking about GATF's in the cichlid section sure someone who knows something about them "may" be in there, but I'll definitely get more responses and they'll be more helpful if I posted the question in the Characin section. All the fish you asked about are Characin's (Wolves, Tigers, Saber Tooths) and as such you would have received more replies and they would have been more informative in the Characin section. So where is the tongue lashing?

Scomb's are Payara's but they aren't Saber Tooths, they're more commonly referred to as Vampire's while Hydrolycus Aratmatus the most sought after and expensive of the group are called Saber-Tooths. Scombs are usually plagued by sudden death syndrome and that's why they are so inexpensive when compared to Armatus. To the OP the 125 is gonna be too small for the Tiger in the long run, never mind the other's your hoping to add. Also you should have posted this in the Characin section since your asking about Tiger compatibility. The best toothy fish would have to be ATF's, Wolves and Hydrolycus. Though in my experience they don't house well together. Armatus dislike silver fish and the body shape of the Tigers seems to either evoke a highly predatory or territorial reaction. Also the rarer Wolves like a Curupira and the Saber Tooth Armatus seem to really dislike each other and will shred each other when ever the opportunity arises, at least that's been my experience. Armatus in general can be pretty aggressive I luckily have a fairly docile one and still I was unable to co-hab him with a Wolf long term. He does get along well with his current tankmates which he's going on 2 years living with them with no incidents which are American Cichlids and Silver Dollars. If your willing to upgrade I'd go with a group of Armatus as they can be easier to house than Tigers and can make a pretty awesome display. Just be aware they might kill each other too, though I've been able to house 2 together successfully till one got bloat and died. Up till that point they kept territories on the far ends of the tank and would only snip at each other when they got close to each other during feeding times.

Do you have more info about sudden death syndrome? It's a bacterial or viral disease? I had one Scomb, but died at 2 years old of asymptomatic form. Why don't H.Armatus affect?
