I'd go with the 300g. The difference of it being 6" wider compared to 12" longer isn't a comparison to me. A wider tank would be nice, but like I said...it's only 6" and it doesn't seem like that big of a difference when it comes to turning room. Whereas, the 12" legth gives it more swimming room.

That would be 24 inches longer...

I would use the 8 footer as a display tank, the extra 6 inches wouldnt do much for me but 2 feet fills the wall better.

Oh yeah...I must be loosing it with my old age

BUt yeah...I have a spot that would be perfect for the 300 rather than the 280. It would just leave too much negative space.

The 300 on a 12 foot (11'6") would blow the wall. Pwehaps a built in with shelves on the sides....
