FW here. Salt looks nice, but the fish don't seem to have the same personalities as freshwater ones.

I could care less about the upkeep and which is harder, just something that comes with the hobby. And it's totally untrue about freshwater fish being cheaper.

I have to agree with you about their personalities. I love my cats' and my other fishes' personalities a lot more than my SW. Tho i do think its cute to see my little clown do his attention dance when I approach him. I would much rather stick my hand in and pet my Giraffe who loves attention.

Salt

I find their behaviors and relations ship fascinating. And nothing is quite as impressive as a full reef.

Planted tanks are boring IMO. Just all green and blah.

I don't have a salt tank now, since I can't afford it. But someday it's my dream set up.

Salt. We've had tanks on an off and the salt fish just seem so more interactive to me. Plus it's more challenging IMHO.

i have done both salt is more colorful and active but fresh is awesome so like idid in the past kept both the best of both worlds.

i would love to do a SW but they are tons of work you need to deal with skimming, salt, and expensive lighting and more. i would stick with FW. easier cheaper and i get the same satifation when i see my FW tanks
