I'm considering selling off my saltwater livestock which means I would have an empty 187 gallon (60"l x 24"w x 30"h) that I would convert to freshwater. What would you put in it?

in that size of tank i would go for a cichlid tank i would do a oscar convict firemouth striped raphael catfish and 6 silver dollars that is what i would do

'Afro'wana and big bichir's (any lower jaw), maybe some Tinfoil Barb dithers.

that african arowana would grow too large and I'm not allowed oscars in the house (long story behind that). I also already have tinfoil barbs, but will consider them. As for convicts, no more of them for me. I already have 3 breeding pairs, and often have fry I'm trying to get rid of because of that.

Bichirs do sound like a good idea, as well as I can find some nice ones locally.

Any other suggestions? If it helps I like really oddball fish.

I love stingrays but I already have a 180 gallon stingray growout. Eventually I will build the male I currently have, along with a female I want to buy this summer to a pond I'll build downstairs). Excellent suggestion though and I will definitely keep rays in mind.

Any other suggestions?

If you don't like convicts how about firemouths or you could do silver dollars and maybe a few jack dempseys

I don't really like firemouths or dempseys either. I'm more of a green terror, red terror, jaguar, midas kind of guy.
Puffer idea sounds good. I had three green spotteds a while ago, ended up selling them. I think a fahaka sounds like an awesome idea though.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Cichla or Dats yet... I'm looking into those as well.
