Neolamprologus multifasciatus can usually be kept in a big group without many losses. If anything, the females will just steal fry from other females to raise as their own.
You can setup different groupings of shells and have several breeding adults within each territory.
I personally like Neolamprologus ocellatus better for their looks but keeping several breeding adults was chaos as they would eat each others fry and fight a lot more. Perhaps in a larger setup like yours with plenty of territory, it might work out better
