yeah ok . motoro is motoro just like a dog is a dog. a ray is a ray . it goes further into the descriptions of species of ray as we know. especialy with motoro.
seems to be decided its definatly just moroto though. and not a cross of any sort . im quite suprised tbh is i expected a cross
she is definatly not a standard motoro . i still think she may be crossed with something .
if it could be possible for them to breed i think the pups could be interesting at least
well. actualy i probalby wouldnt . or very begrudingly . but most likley not i think . id have to have a long think if you even mentioned that you would .
you know how long i had that male t1 . and how ive seen him grow etc. each of my rays are special in a differnet way . not just like the other fish i have.
ive worked on the collection i have , and the tank i have now for many years and to get them this far and to have the male from very very young and the small female from not much bigger ( although growth has been better ) means alot to me . if i ever have to seel them i will be very sad . you know probably as well as i do how long ive had the male
no i didnt take your post as somethign bad. i just think that this female is more special than most normal motoros due to her paterning . and im asking for sugestions as to why she might be this way . cross breeding . just a fluke thing etc etc. but i dont think its a normal motoro , motoro mix . just my thought though and was the point of the thread... so i can get other peoples views.
the way i go on rays is if it looks like motoro and has 1 single row of spines the length of the tail chances are its motoro or it has strong motoro genes
i have seen so called SP rays that look like a black ray but have the single row of spines this is a motoro thing
still shes not a standard motoro to me. of all the variations especially different types of marbled rays etc . i still wouldnt describe her as just a normal motoro but it seems most others would . i would say that from the river she aparently came from and a few other comments . taking into account the pattern she has i would say she was some form of marbled motoro . dont get me wrong i dont mind if she is just motoro and nothing else but from the comments i think shes gonna have to settle for being a special motoro
ok . after taking into account the single row thing and not really taking much notice , i was sat by the tank the other day and had a closer look . there is definatly a dfference in the spines on the tail the marble motoro in the tank the male had a single definate row of spines .
the large female in question here has a more higildy pigeldy row with some spines side by side . i tried to get some pics but they are not very good and the spines are hard to see in the pics .
ill post the ones i have and see if you can make it out . i dont know what difference it makes to what the ray is or may be.
the 4th pic is of the male i have . suposed to show the neat straight line of spines but the pic probaby doesnt show it too well
