I would build the worlds largest aquarium with taxpayer money and legalise asian aros and snakehead and then force all the guys from BP that keep placing teh blame where it does not belong to do the tank maintenence while being watched by armed guards

If I could do anything, not just in the US but world wide, for fish, fishing, fish consumption and fish keeping, this is where I'd start.
An indefinite ban on fishing for the following species, others would be included but these are some of the most endangered fish species that I have read about.
Atlantic Halibut (already banned in US waters)
Beluga Sturgeon
Acadian Redfish
Orange Roughy
Winter Skate
Bocaccio Rockfish
European Eel
Goliath Grouper (harvest already banned in US waters)
Maltese Ray
Bluefin Tuna
Whale Sharks
Great White Sharks
A reduction of, building up to an indefinite ban of bottom trawling world wide.
Vast expansion of aqua farming for food fish including channel catfish, tilapia, carp, and other species that do not require wild caught feeder fish, and can be raised outside native waters, thus eliminating invasion, and using alternative energy power sources for facilities.
Education and promotion of the comsumption of invasive species such as snakeheads and silver carp.
