My dad and i are building a a 247gallon FOWLR system.
I would like a trigger, grouper, puffer, eel, and i already have flounder.
the tank is 5.5ftx3ftx2ft. so tell me what you would stock it with i would like a big grouper and idk if i really want the trigger and could you tell me if it would be compatable for a niger trigger to be with a grouper? And post what you would stock it with for ideas for me:confused:

A better question would be, what WOULDNT I do with a 247g aquarium. I dont see why you cant mix them...you can try it out. If the ****** starts fin nipping, the one or the other has to go.

All the times Ive kept groupers, they pretty much cling to the structure. I also feel that bc of this, there are some of the more aggressive fish because they do in a sense have a territory. My spotted grouper would eventually kill my slightly large volitan lionfish after a month of night time attacks. Oh yea, I would put a lion in there. Probably the best saltwater "pet" mine ate from my hand, followed me around the tank when I did water changes, and would swim upside down, backwards, and with his head out of the water for food. Triggers arent that smart. Groupers just sit in the rock until they see food.

Post pictures when you get the chance.

I would put:

1 Volitains Lionfish
1 Picasso Triggerfish
1 Arc eye Hawkfish
1 Blue Tang
1 V tail Hind Grouper
1 Snow Flake Eel
1 Porcupine Puffer
1 Yellow Tang

ok i dont have it yet im gonna build it this summer and i like lions they look cool i just dont want to be too afraid of cleaning the tank cause what im thinkin is
1 niger trigger
1 porcupine puffer fish
1 gold line trigger fish
1 moray eel idk what type i like the yellow head ones but idk if it would get to big
and i have 3 flounder right now which are really smart and cool fish
and i think 1 volitan lionfish it just depends wether i get a good deal or not
and why do you say tangs cause i thought they werent that big and would get eaten
and i want a predetor tank because i like big unique fish. and i also think that predetors are smarter than other fish

Tangs arent the smartest, but they will add color and activity to your tank. Lions move real slow, so do the puffers. Your moray and grouper will spend most of their time hiding, thats just what they do.

The lion is going to be the "smartest" fish, probably closely followed by the puffer and maybe the grouper. The grouper will at the very least associate you with food. (Watch out, mine got to the point where hand feeding could be painful. :D)

Tangs are not small...The smallest tank you could put the smallest tangs in in my mind is a 75g. Its not a good situation, but you can put a scopas in there or maybe a yellow.

Spearfishing on oahu I saw sailfin tangs that were the size of briefcases.

ok i think i rather have a lionfish than a trigger but idk whats worse getting stung or getting bit by triggerfish i guess i could try it but if the trigger starts to eat the lions fins im gonna get rid of him. Also are most of theyre growth rates around the same?
