what do cobra pike prices run?
when i set this up , it will be col springs , co.
so i am thinking about ideas before i get out there.

ideas are appreciated. and even though africans, bichars, and such are sweet this will definelty be a pike tank (in one way or another). and i try to keep my tanks biotope tanks

$30-$50 for small ones. They seem to be seasonal at least the small ones are. Jeff Rapps had them a month or two ago and Fish Farm gets them in the spring time.

The reason a Cobra would work so well is that they are very active. If you got a rouge berserker, which can happen from time to time. You wouldn't need any other fish in the tank it would be a gill flaring, finger chasing, aquatic spectacle all by itself. If you got a more mild mannered fish, its all in the luck of the draw. You could pull off a small community tank. Just don't spend too much for the dithers Cobras in my experience can be fine one day and go a killing spree the next.

Here are a few pics of a rogue attacking its refection and my camera, it hated that camera:

and i am wondering what people would do with a 75.

I would fill it with tapioca pudding. Then bob for apples in it while a circle of clowns watched, talking amongst themselves.

Or, if you don't know any clowns, you could toss some water and a bunch of dwarf pikes in there..........

turtle slayer , any catfish you think would be ignored by a solitary cobra?

i was thinking convicts or uara's as "dithers" even though it would be more for my amusement than getting the pike out and about. would those work?

The Cobras I have kept claim the bottom as theirs and defend it through bullying and acts of aggression. Then again like Taz said it depends on the individual fish. Maybe a large robust pleco, but they aren't cheap. My large female killed a sailfin pleco that was a good deal larger. Here is a good thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173140
Hope it helps, others may have ideas

a future welcome to Colorado. I'll tell you that you are going to have a hell of a time finding a cobra at any LFS around here. Johannas, venezuleans and lucius are pretty common here, but that's about it.

Welcome to Colo. or happy to have you when you get out here. I would do the Sp. Cobra Tapajos II. No bottom dweller and no other fish that will challange him or there going to be at it 24/7. My Cobra is only 4'' but he has scrapped up a few of my Parachromis twice his size. So ditthers and maybe another Cichlid you may be able to get away with but the bottom half of the tank is going to be off limits.

if you have enough hiding spots, you may get away with a raphael or other small armored catfish.

planning on getting an large peice of driftwood for the middle. Then a rock pile along t he right wall leaving a place for him to hide, along with a 3" or 4" pvc tunnel in the front.

And a ton of floating plants, with room for one large sword on the left backside of the tank.

and making my own diy canister so my xp3 doesn't make such a ridiculous current.
