What would you do with this...? Blank Canvas 6 Foot

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the detailed write up! Something I'm considering more now. What sort of tetras do you have that come from harder water areas? I naturally have hard water here in London UK so a bonus in that respect
My research led me to

Black Neon Tetra-Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi
Red eye Tetra-Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae

Both of these are found in varied different waters parameters in the wild from the low side of 7.0PH up to 8.2PH.

I just remember this from the London zoo aquarium, it was a huge tank. Predominantly Festivum cichlids with a few geophagus and a motoro stingray. A large group of Festivum in tannin water look really good :D
First tank here :nilly:

So.... some glimmer wood rock in and all filters up and running; along with 6 platys to start the cycle.

Does the rockscape inspire any new stocking suggestions? I've gone for the minimalistic and clean look over the natural look.

Think I might spread the rocks out a bit - not entirely happy with it at the moment. I also tried some vals but it was just moving about crazy in the current so took it out.

Don’t hate the rocks as is but might like to see them spread out as well then decide which looks best. Looking forward to what ends up in there. It is a nice looking set up.

Thanks mate. The more I look at it the more I want to spread it out a bit, and maybe add a couple more pieces.

Been doing some research on Malawi Cichlids. I think I've inadvertently made an ideal setup for them and my water is naturally quite hard.

Yup. A few male peacocks and haps would look really good in that setup.
tropheus duboisi would be sweet as well.

actually I change my recommendation. I think a colony of tropheus (pick one you like) would look awesome in that set up.

These are all great suggestions but figured I'd throw an Asian themed tank out there. Not sure if you've seen the Aquarium Co-op tank, but if you want a very active tank you could go with a large group of loaches, a large group of tiger barbs and for me i would add some color by also adding a large group of cherry barbs.

Uaru tank gets my vote. Such a beautiful fish, pretty much always my answer to the "if you could only keep one fish" question. Even over the monsters ;)
