What would you do with this tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Spotted leopard puffer tank is another option, pricey tho at $200 a fish.

9" give or take.

I currently have four tanks with CA cichlids and another 65g standard (36x18x24") that my wife gave the ok to setup in our smaller living room. I could go my usual route and stock it with a smaller type of CA, but I was thinking maybe I should try something different. Caveats: my water is extremely hard and I prefer something with personality (just a school of tetras isn't going to do it for me). That said, here are the ideas I have:

-Tanganyikan biotope with Multi's, comps, paracyps (I like the idea but the tall tank is going to be tough to 'scape)
-A smaller CA cichlid "wet pet" (ideas?)
-Some other type of wet pet that can handle the hard water
-Other....need ideas!
Have you considered a flowerhorn

I like all of those ideas, but would have thought the Nic's or Bartoni would get too big for the tank. I have been trying to find nic's in my area for a while with no luck at all.
I read the post too fast I take those back for a 36 inch tank I think a pair of nicas could still be good but not bartonis
maybe cryptoheros cutteri love those little guys
