What would you do?

I was going to do 3 cinder blocks high at each end and three in the middle, with plywood + styrofoam at the top and maybe a sheet in the middle for a "shelf." I'll have to deal with splashes because our apartment has only carpet (even in the kitchen! not in the bathroom though)

better go 3 cinder blocks high all the way across unless you have some really thick strong plywood that ive never heard of. you have to evenly distribute the weight or there will be stress points on your tank bottom where the plywood bows down between the cinder blocks. spend the extra $2 and get atleast 6 more cinder blocks.

Would a RD/midas hate my bichir then?
My rd will not tolerate any fish as a tank mate. Just moved him into the 75g this weekend. Wish i could get him a girlfriend.

i just picked up a 10" barred midas and its doing alright with my 7 and 9 inch oscars in a 500 gal indoor pond. it wouldnt tolerate any other fish in its 75 gal at the lfs. but in the 500 its doing just fine since it has its own space.
