I would try to comparmise, get the 1000 gallon tank first then i wont touch it for a year... cross your fingers 
3 days later slowly add 2 cups of water a day..
2 weeks later add a bucket full every day..
3 weeks later add a quiet filter...
5 weeks later add a few tiny neons to cycle the tank..
THEN BAM! Throw all those monsters in that bad boy...
She will never know..
Then get a speedo and a snorkle and enjoy!

I didn't read the whole thread but it sounds like a trick to me.
Once the tanks are gone it's going to be hard to bring one back again.
Other wise she would say let's get rid of all these misc. tanks and focus on one Monster sized tank.
Sounds like she feels the tanks are a problem.

What's the point? How about get the 1k tank, and then put the fish in it, but don't get anymore fish for a year! Women and their trickery...
