WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree Sump is the way to go, cause it hides everything easier to clean if ever need be, and can hide the heaters and all. And plumbing really isnt that hard.

Ok sorry for the delay... I just haven't had time to do anything with the tank yet. Here are some pics.

This is from the top of the tank. You can see the one overflow box.

This is the bottom of the tank. One hole is larger than the other.

This is the other side without the overflow box.

Hope this explains things a little better.

So you could do this to the larger holes
http://www.dursostandpipes.com/ or
http://www.rl180reef.com/pages/standpipe/standpipe-ken_stockman.htm

You don't need the over flow boxes to do this. For the smaller holes I would plumb two returns from two pumps in your sump so if one pump gives out you still are running filtration. You would also need to do stand pipes on the returns but at the top put nozzels to direct the water flow.

If you go to local LFS and look at a display reef tank I am wiling to bet they have the exact same setup and just copy theirs.

i have a 210, similar to yours but made by All Glass. to answer your question, i did Both. sump is mainly for biological. FX5 mainly for mechanical.

the only thing i wish i wouldve done differently is get the Eheim instead of the FX5. im having some issues with mine cutting off when it feels like.

I personally would just find another overflow box and use a sump, as it looks like someone just took the other overflow box out. When I bought my first drilled tank it was a little overwhelming, but after you get it all sorted out it's pretty easy. Just do yourself a favor and build your own sump, because they can be very inexpensive.

I just use the containers with drawers inside a fish tank and fill them with mechanical/bio material.

SUMP..no question..SUMP
