I'm gonna attempt to train my 11" jardini onto pellets. My options are Spectrum XL Fish Formula, hikari food sticks or nutrafin max predator sticks what would be the most readily eaten lol i feel bad for starving the little guy.

No guaranties, but I have had luck with Spectrum. It all pretty much depends on what your jardini finds palatable.

i trained my black aro to eat nls and hikari, it ieats both but only eats NLS when its half starved. then it willeat it. but if i put botht ogether, it will ALWAYS go for hikari.

Hi kari shape perhaps seems like a worm
also the texture, the spongy texture also may be better.
Hikari produce a new product now, its like the massivore of aro sticks... large carnivore sticks i think its called. look scool.

i find that the jar isnt as fussy when i had it compared to other aros i have had.
but i guess if you train it to eat from young, its ok.
my jar accepted pellets at 40Cms

Start with the NLS XL fish formula 7.5 mm pellets and if that doesn't work move on to Hikari Food Sticks soaked in vita-chem, for added nutrition. My RTG doesn't like the NLS but a lot of that has to do with the fact that its eaten Hikari food sticks all its life. Good Luck (:

Start small. Baby steps. Feeding him something like NLS is going to turn him away from pellets quick making it harder for you and him because he will have to starve longer. NLS is like the brocoli of the fish foods, Yes its exremely good for them but its not all that tasty.
I believe the best method you could try is pre-soaked massavoire or bio-gold made by Hikari. All fish seem to absolutely love the stuff. And yes its pre-soaked so it will loose a bit of its nutritinal value, but its an effective way to get fish interested in pellets because they are easy to eat and mild in taste. From there you can work up to harder more nutritial foods.
