I could help build you a smoking fast sys that will last, be fast where you need it to be fast, and not waste your money.

What do you want your computer for?

What do you use your computer for?

Do you play lots of fast games online?

Where or how is your pc slow now, or what bugs you about it?

What do you have now, for a pc?

How much do you want to spend?

They are the questions to answer.. I asked all my clients these strait away.

You really shoulnt ask others what their dream pc's are if your looking to buy one like it. Eyerybody has different needs. You want it custom built to meet your needs, right?

It does make for a neat topic tho.

I found that Alienware has a configuration that closely matches this configuration:

With the addition of:

XP Professional service pack 2
Support
Total of 4g of memory
Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Edition
28 in 1 Card reader
*edit* 300GB RAID0 (2x150GB SATA 1.5GB/S 10,000 RPM w/NCQ & 16MB Cache) instead of the above listed '4 Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 300GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drives'

Total for hir0's and the additions that I listed is approximately $4,700.

They also offer the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 w/Hyper Transport and Dual Core Technology processor as an comoponent option. I believe that this is AMD's fastest processor at the moment. It adds an additional $600 to the total cost if I go this route. So approximately $5,300.

Did some research on this processor. Althought it is AMD's fastest processor, a majority of the feed back (if not all) was that this processor was way over priced at this moment for the benifits that you receive. That unless you are a hardcore 'gamer' (of which I am not) one should just get the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor....

That system hiro posted would only make sence for a hard core gamer and is over priced for most. 2x $500+ vid cards lol. You dont even need 1 of them to run photoshop at its fastest and could buy a lot better parts the the $1000+ you'll save right there. I suggest a low to middle road vid card. If you dont do gaming or 3d rendering you dont need much of a card at all , youll just waste the money. Grab a Sweet pc monitor or somthing real nice to view and work on your photos with maby? :)

OCZ Titanium 2GB (2 x 1GB) Dual Channel Kit System Memory

You hook 2hdd in raid0 Thats standard now on most mother boards. they are sooo fast. When they speed test pc's now that how its done. It effects the whole speed of the pc, I was amazed.

I'd go for the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor

Get the best motherboard with the best chipset for it. Its worth it, you get the most out of your cpu.

A case.. This case moves air! No it moves air!
I never know a case could make such a difference ;) very quiet, you just have to see them in action!
after selling so many, and listening how everyone loved them, I had to get one. Great if you wana keep it cool. Rubber mounted anti vibration hdd slide in trays. I love this case :/ Very mature case ;)

What about a sound card? Soundbalster live 5.1? Its a nice basic card and great sound.

DVDRW or 2 if you like to double stuff, of course, the fastest out.

You'll need a floppy for the raid also.. lol

This is somthing I'm saving for now... maby next year :( http://www.wacom.com/productinfo/intuos.cfm

Anyway good luck, with your new pc :)

Thanks for the advice. I also just realized that the configuration that I was looking at regarding Alienware was just one video card not two as hir0 suggested...

So here is the basic configuration I will be going with:

AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-62 Dual Core Processor
2GB DDR2 PC-6400 SDRAM at 800MHz - 2 x 1024MB
300GB RAID0 (2 x 150GB Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s 10,000 RPM w/2 x 16MB Cache)
