what would you get??

I'd say asian aro, but you are in the US. so if you wanted one sick centerpiece fish, I'd go with jardini.

if you want a nice community, I second the above recommendation of geos.

i didnt get the fahaka....i got 2 rtcxtsn, 1 tsn, 1 silver arowana, 1 clown knife fish, 1 alligator gar, 1 rope fish. :D

all are 5 inches except the ropefish hes 12 inches

there future housing is already taken care of so dont tell me they get huge and cant stay in the 240g....i already know

Although i already know you got your stock down... if you ever wanted to consider puffers, but didn't want a tank to only house a single puffer, you could consider South American Puffers next time... they do best in shoals... although the only downside is they need regular dentistry about once every 6 months from what i hear...

are they straight freshwater?

Yup, true freshwater species which if i remember correctly get to about 4" maybe 5" when fully grown...

catfish eat ropefish > arrow and gar go at eachother gator will prolly win> gator tolerates knife until it does somethign stupid like make a run at it, gar destroys clown ( thast if teh cats haven't eaten it already)> Gar tolerates catfish until he decides otherwise...gar tank.. i like gar tanks.

5 inch catfish isnt going to eat a 12 inch rope fish...i know in a couple of months the catfish will be 12 inches and will eat the ropefish but they wont be together that long. the arowana and the gar i did think about them sharing the top water column and i just gotta finish my stand for my 180 and they will be seperated.....the knife will be fine in the 180 with the aro and the ropefish...thanks for the concern :D
