When I used cement for artificial rocks the ph went up to 10. Normal tests might not work in that range and give wrong results.

ok seachem alert fails anywhere from 3-6 months of being in the tank. How long have you had the first one?

They are both just over. November and December. I guess I'll order a new one.

They are in a temporary pool while I get this setup. Rainbows, Spotted Silver Dollars, and a Flagtail.

How long did it take you to get it under control?

I don't remember exactly but its written in some thread somewere. It must have been something around 4 weeks with 7 or 8 huge water changes.

With the new kit, looks like about the same pH as my tank (8.2), and the average pH of the waters in eastern Panama.
That is also the pH of the rain, here.
