me making a DVD about how to find and keep venomous snakes? I got an overwhelming response from the few videos that I posted here, on youtube, and on a few other forums so I was thinking maybe I could go through all the steps and safety tips on how to "Find, Catch and Keep a Rattlesnake". It would not be a video that should be the exclusive way to prepare yourself for venomous snakes but it would come with lots of tips and interesting facts on them and it would be a good way to mentally prepare before one starts their training I think.

I was thinking I could make it about an hour long with three 20 minute or so segments. what do you think? too long, too short? what other content would you guys like to see? and how much would you pay for something like this?

Open to all comments and suggestions. Thanks!

I would buy it when ever I move out of NY and want to get into venomous. Idk how much I would actually pay, but I don't believe it would be to long. If you want to get technical it would be to short because there is no real way to sum it all up into an hour but it would show people if it's really the way they want to go on dealing with hots. Depending on the success you could make a few more going deeper into how the take care of them. So yeah it is a good idea. Don't forget to add in the video it isn't all they should watch to prepare for hots. Some people out there would buy it watch it and call it good and jump into getting the snakes. You should explain the best way to get proper training to own these snakes. So people who don't know exactly can find out.

An hour seems long. but when you said 3 segments that are only 20 min each that seems more appealing.

I am thinking to make the first one free, but not give out too much of the info you want to give out... maybe keep that one to 12-15min. Use it as a lure for the information to come in the second two videos. Post the free one on you tube, stress the importance of the information in the other 2, and include info on how to attain it. This way the other 2 could be 40 min each and give you more time to go over the vast amount of info.

Maybe $14-15 each.

Video one: keeping venomous snakes
Video two: catching venomous snakes

Or should that be 2 and 3 since the first one was free...

I would definitely check on any liability issues you would have prior to releasing it. That aside, I think it is a great idea to have some instructional videos out there based in reality and not "good" television.

you should probably stick to just a video on keeping them. Otherwise your gonna have a bunch of idiots out looking for rattlesnakes and getting killed.

i think it's a great idea, your youtube video of how to use a snakehook came in handy recently

I'd just stick with your videos about how you keep them. All we need is more people out there hunting them down, getting bitten, then more people wanting to kill every snake they come across.

i think it sounds like a plan.
would be good to see someone doing it responsibly and showing every move and explaining it.
as opposed to some others iv seen ....

I like the idea but i see serious liabilities popping up. But i like the idea, showing the proper way to use a snake hook and stuff is nice info to pass around.

I think that's a great idea!

I agree-you may want to keep it to keeping them only.

Anything else could pose some serious liability issues. People will sue over all kinds of stupid stuff nowadays and unfortunately, they're winning.

We definitely need more instructional videos on proper petkeeping out there. The general public isn't as informed as they should be, especially in regards to snakes, fish, etc.

IMHO-including the environmental damage done by people "releasing their pets" would be good information.
