Heres the story...

I'm off to Walmart for a late night beer, milk, and diapers run (ironic kind of). On the way I'm behind this vehicle for awhile that is swerving and driving erratically. I am thinking that this person is either drunk, high or both or a really bad driver. Well it turns out I follow the person all the way to Walmart.

I take a look and just notice what the person looks like, a female in her 20s. I pretty much forget about it until I see her with an infant in the store. I instantly got that burning sinking empty feeling that you mothers/fathers out there might know when you see a child that could be in danger.

As I'm walking I'm debating what I should do. I am a firm believer that mothers and their babies should be together and even though people make mistakes, every option must be exhausted before the two are separated.

I see her and the baby again, this time it is very obvious she isn't in the right state of mind to be with her baby so I make the tough call to the police.

After shopping I stop at the gas station next door and see the police pull in. As Im leaving I actually end up behind the police who is behind the car in question. We drive for about a half mile and it is still painfully obvious. He lights her up and I drive on.

I think I made the right choice, but I also hate to see a baby taken from her mother...

Did I do right?

100% with you bro you may have saved a childs life good thinking bro.;)

You definitely did the right thing. No doubt. I think a baby would rather be taken from his/her mother than get hurt or killed.

personally i would have done nothing but thats not my nature to try to help or intrude either way you think of it. in the end you might have helped that child.

Good call.

The baby should only be taken away until bail is made...unless the judge makes the decision to remove the child.

If nothing else maybe the cop was nice and just made sure her and baby made it home ok.

A court will know the difference between a good mom who screwed up once and a bad mom who screws up all the time.

maybe she was having allergy problems, that happened to you right?

there may be more to the story than you know.

did you report that accident you had to the police? just curious////////

You made the right choice. There should be more people with your way of thinking.I am a parent but I don't think you need to be to see what she did was wrong. The well being of the child is far more important than any consequences the mother may have received.Hopefully the mother re-thinks her actions next time as a result of this.
Well done.
