Friend has a GATF for sale but doesn't know what to ask for it. It's about 10" here is a pic when he got
It 6 months ago. Still looks the same just bigger. Just want to know what they are going for so I can help him out, thanks! ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1380670478.030548.jpg

If it's actually ten inches and still flawlessly clean like that, I'd say it was worth about $300.

I saw it today it's super clean and just guesstimating its 9-10"

For a GATF. What about a 10" TATF? Not flawless, but pretty close.

$200 or so?

I'm not a market speculator, guys. :p

Big ATF are worth what you can get for them. If they're big and absolutely flawless, they'll fetch a premium price. If there's anything wrong, and I do mean anything, people won't be willing to pay the big bucks for them. A single torn fin or missing scale seems to kill their value.

The problem with these is how rare they come up for sale at this size; there's no established market. Some sell quick at fantastic prices, others don't sell at all. West 1 sold his 15(?) inch VATF which was absolutely flawless for a mind blowing $1,500. I've seen foot long goliaths in rough shape not move when being sold for $200.

I think luck plays into it more than a little.

Johnny, got any pics of that TATF? Its bigger than I'm looking for, but I'm still curious.

I'd say 200 would make it a fire sale, somebody would jump on it. I'm sure there are many people w/ big tanks wanting atf, but their other fish are too big already. I've noticed as long as there's shipping it will move for a better price, because then your range is huge. I studied advertising for a time, decided I didn't want to be in an office though, so I know a lil bit about selling things in general. I'd put it up here, aquabid, etc and make shipping available, it would get gone in no time! Honestly it seems like the real "pedestal" predators right now are cichla, atf, wolf fish, payara. As in they aree very desired right now.

Like everybody said though, condition is everything. Like antique guns, my uncle cleaned an old Remington lever action that would have sold for 2000 and that put the price down to somewhere between 200-400. A bigger difference but the same concept.

It's all a matter of personal opinion........

I'd personally pay more for a Tatf then a Gatf of the same size. :screwy:

Have seen similar sized GATF in a shop up in MN for $250. I thought that was a steal for LFS pricing.
