I work 4-10 hour shifts. Monday-Thursday with overtime on a regular basis. The hours are 5am-3:30pm which includes a 30 minute lunch. If it's really busy which this week is, we work 4am-3:30pm We will also be working a mandated Friday shift which will hopefully be 10 hours and not 11 hours. I can only hope. I'm all for OT and volunteer on a regular basis, but 10 hours is crappy enough and these 11 hour shifts are ridiculous.

I've worked 5-day 8 hours shifts before and I would go back to that in a heartbeat if I could.
Sure it's a 5th day, but I'm off earlier to actual do stuff during my time off. I hardly sleep now. The fact that it's 5am doesnt help either. I could easily do 7am-5:30pm I'm a total morning person, but 5am is not morning! lol Been doing this for almost 4 years now and I'm done with this job. It pays okay, but at what expense. Me being tired during work, after work, I can't do anything after work productive. I'm not sure if it's the 10 hours or the 5am start time that's what's killing me here.

I'm looking for a new job, but for now it is what it is. I guess this turned into a vent thread, was suppose to be a simple poll!

It's tough for your right now, because of the OT. Otherwise, 4-40 schedule would be great, since you'll have 3 days off.

I also work 4-10hr shifts, Mon.-Thurs. But we haven't had much OT lately. My hrs are 3:30pm - 2:00am. I didn't think I'd like it at first, but I like to sleep in and stay up late lol. So I guess it works for me. The 3 day weekends are nice.

I don't have a set schedule. I work anytime starting from 6am and finish at 11pm. Weekends and Holidays are a luxury. I'd like to work a "normal" Monday through Friday, 9-5 job, don't know what I can do with my work experience to land a job like that though.

Over the summer i used to work similar hours to that in a factory.
10h M-F, then usually another 8.5 on saturday, and occasionally 12h on monday.
Was unreal pay for the three months work. DIdnt mind the long hours, but was annoyin having basically no free time. So id say 4x10h is better then 5x8hours

Just would go to work, eat, sleep, and lift some weights 3x a week. ocassionally see friends saturday night, and see my girlfriend any days i didnt lift.

Just do what we all do, think of the $$$

I've worked 4 days 10 hr shifts befor and have done 12 hr shifts as well as standard 5 day shifts. Love the 12 hr shifts because we'd do 4 days, off 3 days one week and next week work 3 days, off 4 days and switch back and so on. Only thing is those 12 hr days take a toll on u and it takes some getting used to. So overall, I'd choose the 4 days 10 hr shift. 3 day weekend every week and it's only that much sweeter when there's a holiday. But when I did that shift we started at 7am. I wouldn't want to start at 4 or 5 am

as long as no one requires me to wake up before 11 am, i'll take the 4 10's. i don't care which days i work or which days i get off as long as the 3 days i'm off are all together.

my dad works 5am-5pm mon-friday, granit, hes suppose to get in at 7am but goes in early because the company and his facilty is really busy! my mom worked 6:30am to 5pm before she quit because my mom was fed up, and my 84 year old gpa was comming to stay with us for a couple months, and he just fell yesterday morning and broke his pelvic bone :/. My parents had to work these hours though because my dads the Manager of Yokohama tires testing facilty in the nearby city, and my mom was the General Manager at the restaraunt I work at. My mom worked 5 days a week too. mon, tues, weds, thurs(off), Fri, Sat, Sun(off).

I was working 6:30am to 2pm on monday and friday, but I stopped doing truck and the new gm just put me on 11am-2pm. ANd theyre saying they dont want me to quit because my mom did, and they dont want and need to loose there other best employee, and then they stick me on a three hour shift... TWO DAYS A WEEK! I told the corporate kitchen manager that i want to work more, but the manager said that their payrolls to high right now or their hours, and the corp kitchen manager was like i dunno who theyre getting their info from, but theyre wrong. Well get it figured out for you, I was like YAY MOORE MONEYYYY FORRRR FISHHHH,,, ANNNDDD MYYYY CARRRRRRRR

Rather not work and plant some money trees in my backyard
