i dont have but a 300$ budget ( including fish)

so i think a 4x4x3 or a 6x4x3 is all i can realy do

Do a 6x4x3 and do some sort of ray and arowana combo with some dats.......Oh wait a minute, thats my set up:ROFL: But its a sweet set up so you should do it too:grinno:

yea that sounds good

now
since this tank has to be out side and im in michigan

how do i keep it warm ?

Why would you make a thread like this if you haven't built it yet? And you plan on keeping this outside in Michigan? Well you could get a heater for it but after your power goes out when it's cold you'll lose everything in a few hours. Your options are bluegill, bass, or sunfish, have fun with them! Unless of course you could factor in a generator and gas in your $300 budget.

I also think it would be stupid to build a 4'x4'x'3' tank when you could just buy a rubbermaid stock tub for less than $200.

because im in the planing stage ?

if you can do 6x4x3 then aro is fine, 6ft as minimum length for aro, longer would be better but many members keep aro in 6ft tanks.
Jardini won't get as big as silver but there's the chance that you might end up with it being the only resident in that tank.
being a piranha guy I would do a big shoal of caribas or pirayas :)

edit: just saw it's gonna be outside, then you better off go with native fish.

im not saying that its going to be outside its just that it is a possablity

:grinno: just get a rubbermaid stock tank. Keeping it warm will be a real challenge. Id go natives.

so should i only go with like a 100gal stock tank then ? then i could for sure keep it inside
