They are great pets but they are also testy. I kept hamsters before and one had bitten me over 20 times much to my frustration. I did have one hamster that was quite friendly and does not mind being handled at all. I moved to guinea pigs later on. Guinea pigs are extremely friendly critters although they unfortunately poop a lot more than hamsters do. Still I miss them a lot.:(
 
yea most hamster we have came nasty when they got older,but one was very friendly a drawf one,so now my sister got 2 gerbils are very friendly and a big rabit is friendly too.

Definatly, ive kept a lot of different animals when i was younger and we bred a lot too, russian hamsters, chincilla, rabbits, guinea pigs, cockateils etc.... its nice to have some furry animals again lol

Guineapigs are my all time fave :)
