A complete 55 gallon set-up. Comes w/ hoods, black cabinet stand, brown natural gravel, 200 watt ebo jager heater, two aquaclear 110's, a pump w/ airstone, and background. All is less than a year old. Also will throw in 6 tiger barbs and a rhino pleco. I was asking for 200$ but didn't get any bites on craigslist. Thanks.

Here's a pic:

thats a pretty good price IMO. Maybe its just not the time for it, i usually put my tanks in the local papers and sell them quicker than on craigslist.

Personally I wouldn't pay more than 100 for that. The value of equipment goes down very quickly with these things. It isn't uncommon to pay $1/gallon for used tanks. You might try it at $150 and also state, taking offers. That way people will call to make an offer, and you can take their # and after so many days if no one will pay your price, and someone made a good enough offer then you can take that.

55 g. tank excellent condition=55.00 w/hood and lights 75.00
Filters =10.00-15.00 each
Heater =5.00
Stand =25.00-40.00
Air pump and stone = 5.00
Background =included.. or keep it.
Fish best bet is to trade in to lfs. Or include ..

Add all this up and you've got a FAIR deal for a almost new used set up:) 155.00 I paid 25.00 for my fifty five and the was for the emp 400... At the same time i have sold 75's full set ups for 250.00.. The problem is most can go get all that for close to that price at Walmart. 55's are a dime a dozen anymore.. I usually post everywhere.. My local site the news classified site, and tell my friends.. My tanks usually sell inside of 2 weeks... If you Cut what you spent on the Set up and cut it in half with out the fish.. That is a general selling tactic and rule :) But 55's don't hold value as everyone and i mean most everyone is selling them ...

Oh my buddy bought his for 100.00 filleds with fish and everything you've named :( but with patience and storing it in the basement or somewhere and forgetting about it you'll sooner or later sell it even if you wanted 250.00 :)

i dont understand guys, a new tank kit is $170 at petsmart, that doesnt included an air pump thats another $10-20, plus a stand that runs about $170, plus buying the decor. In my area used 55s sell for around $200-250 easily with everything. They can't get it new for under $300 and thats without the gravel and decor and fish. I think $200 is a fair price and you should just try your local paper. Tanks are always a big seller.

WyldFya- Why dont you just kick him in the nuts too!!! "I wouldnt pay more than $100 bucks for that," you dissing his tank? Sounds like it. There is NO WAY you can get a 55g with everything included brand new for under $350. NO WAY!

Tongue33- NO WAY to you also!!!

I just bough a 250 acrylic tank for 100.00 and a just seen a thread at our local site for count it 3 55's BRAND new still with all the tags and card board for 50.00 each..

Plus my 150 cost me 300.00 with tank stand light ... and Glass tops.. Filter was also 25.00.. So youare telling the WRONG people no way.. I just sold a 75 about a month ago every thing included for 200.00.. and a 90 for 200.00 with EVERYTHING..

Plus i added everything up used as his tank IS NOT NEW... NEW Is considered from the store :) Used is even in the wrapper but not form the store.. There for you lose value kind of like a car... You drive it off the lot and you lose value..

I was not dissing anyone.. I was just pointing out the facts of MY EXPERIENCE which seems i have a little bit of to be able to do what YOU think is impossible.. I also stated that he could very easily get 250.00 out of it if he was patient..

But I assure you, I could pick up all that stuff in the same condition for at very least 50.00 less. As could Wyldfya :) Once you are in and around buying and selling tanks a little, you can easily get what you want out of them or get what you want NEW, for much less than at the store..

I feel bad that you are unable to find these kinds of deals. But I ASSURE YOU they do happen everyday everywhere :) Patience is the key to both Finding and Dropping tanks :)

I did not insult anyone or deny he couldn't get what he wanted.. So please understand my view.. I have right now a 110 gallon I bought with everything for 130.00 WITH EVERYTHING :) I could easily get 3 times that out of it inside of 2 weeks.. though I know the real worth .. And what I would pay for such a set up..

He has a nice tank and is asking a fair non hobbiest price in my opinion :) As for the experienced Hobbiest that find these tanks EVERYWHERE.. They will not pay that. And that has nothing to do with this set up.. Or dissing it. he asked for suggestions and answers and he was given very detailed ones at that.. A USED TANK ...

It is common knowledge that a used tank price is generally and I say that loosely.. Generally half of what you paid .. Sad thing is even if you bought it yesterday...

To add to it he could easily get what he's asking:) They are posted for 200.-250.00 all the time too.. It just isn't people like me that buy those :) and if I do the price drops drastically beofre I even get close to going to pick it up..

I just bought a $75 brand new for 111.99, I got a 135 used with lids for 135. I got a 150 tall (30") for 450 with full setup. I got a quote for a 120 (48x24x24) for only $400 brand new with lights, lids, heater XP3 and air pump. I don't know where you buy from, but time to start shopping for lower prices.

When I sell a tank I use the $1/gallon for all tanks only and adjust for other items.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Wild - You would honeslty only offer someone w/ my setup 100$ for the whole setup? Talk about lowballin. You couldn't even get the stand for a 100....

Damn, apparently tanks depreciate faster than cars. I took a break from modifying my bimmer and recently just got into fish again, but I should stick w/ cars. At least I can get most of my money back on mods as long as there in good condition such as this tank.

The tank and stand alone I paid more than 200$ for and their still in like new condition. Basically I wanted to sale this tank b/c I wanted a bigger tank than my current 125 and didn't want to have to keep up w/ 3 tanks.

If you go by the rule of a 1$ per gallon, why have I seen a 300 gallon tank (w/ stand, lights, etc) selling for 1,250$ and a 180 gallon (tank alone) going for 500$ on the classifieds of this site??

Thanks to this site, I have learned that I will never buy another brand new tank but always go used.

I'm not saying you cannot get that out of it.. Infact invisible to obviously one viewer I stated very clearly you could get 250.00 out of it.

So lets here you speel ? How did it look in your add? Maybe we can start there...

Honestly yes. I got a 55 gallon hoods lights, and stand for 199.99 brand new.

Walmart has a kit over here brand new AGA 55 for 149.97. IMO, and experience 250 is way to much. When you start talking larger tanks, and those that are not mass produced the $1/gallon is not longer the rule. I got a 55 last year at a different LFS for $79, brand new.
