In search of Leiarius
That comes in a kit to get?
vinyl
or
wood
or
metal

What brand name is best?

The size Iam looking at is 10ft wide by 10ft long.

I would use it to house an above ground pond. In a shed so I can insulate it and heat it, and therefore keep tropical fish outdoors.

depending on your building code, and what the sell locally basically.

If you're good at building stuff yourself, you'd be alot better off building a custom shed 10.4 feet by 10.4 feet or what ever the max is with out a permit there. If you do it yourself, or get a friend that knows what hes doing, then you can wire everything up for electrical...do the plumbing and insulate it properly insted of doing a hack job.

If you're really set on getting a kit id look for a vinyl shed kit. dig 1 foot down where you plan to put it...lay 6 inches of gravel for drainage, then 6 inches of sand...use a tamper to pack it down. Then patio stones to prevent the pond from sinking and becoming unlevel.

Thanks.Iam okay at building stuff, but not to good enough to build my own. I qill look into the building codes. It should be fine since people all over town have similar sheds in their yards, but then again bureacracy is a pain.

Don't get metal. My parents had one and that thing was useless. Always was loud as hell when you accidently hit it. Got dings all over the thing, the door tract would rust and be hell to close. I think there was a good 300-400 screws to put in. I never liked it at all. Plus it had spiders all over the damn inside.

It filled it's purpose, but I think I would rather throw a tarp over all of the junk in that shed and call it a day.

I don't know where you live, but the OntarioBuildingCode allows for stuff under 10.4 feet by 10.4 to be build with out inspection. I'm sure they have a similar thing there, and aslong as its not lived in and used as a shed im sure there will be little worrys.

AFAIK aslong as you build it to code, you wont need to worry about it anyways.

I have a feeling it would be much cheaper to do it yourself, there are many plans online for building sheds. Take the time to plan it properly...do it out on paper a few times, then scan it and post it here? Just an idea. Peer review is always helpful. But if you didn't want to invest all the time and money any kit should do you well aslong as you have a solid location for it where water wont collect

i like the plastic sheds, there sturdy, easy to assemble, easy to move.
ive moved 4 times with my shed and can assemble/disassemble it in 20 minutes.
last time i moved i accidently ran over the roof with a 15' box van, and although it did crack, it still doesnt leak and looks new after 10 years.

on the other hand, i had a horrible time demo'in an old wood shed, and paid $100 at the dump to get rid of it.

Would an above ground pond have the same code requirements as an above ground pool?

Looks like we have the similar codes here, you shouldn't have an issue.

edit: yes the government will look at ponds and pools as a standing body of water, but being inside a shed im sure you'll have all the requirements covered. Here we need a inclosed area around any pool higher then 32 inches (if i remember correctly)
