whats a good Turtle to get ive got a 2 1/2 foot tank by 18in high 15in depth or do i just need a bigger tank any help would be good thanks

Your tank size is fine for starting a baby turtle for the first couple of months, but you're really going to need to up grade fast.
Turtles thrive best when given a lot of space, something that most store bought aquariums can't provide. Wide shallow tanks are the way to go for most species of turtles. You can make a custom aquarium or you can use large plastic storage tubs. Good filtration is very important too because water turtles are very messy animals.
You could probably keep a Musk or Mud turtle in that size tank for the longest. Most of these species of turtles don't get past 4 or 5 inches when adult.

well i was thiking of a Map Turtle ive got a good filter already and i have a 4x2x2 fot it to move in to when it gets bigger its just full of fish at the moment

Just to point out that Map turtles are one of the larger species of basking turtles and females can get a shell length of 10-12 inches. I would consider making an outdoor enclouse as well where you can keep your turtle when it's warm enough. 4x2x2 might be a little crowded for life.

so what tank size would i be looking to get if i have 2 map turtles because i might be geting 2 for £35 dont mind upgrading to a 6x2x2 at a later date but havent realy got the room for a bigger tank than that

Your larger size of 6x2x2 would be the better choice for 2 adult maps. Are you able to keep the turtles outside in the summer in a kiddie pool or something? Just wondering.
