Whats a good vitamin supplement to soak food in (fish/shrimp/pellets)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks... Yeah i am feeding them a good pellet.. but it gets messy, and sometimes they lose interest.. so i was thinking of switching it up for a couple months with some fresh food, but still want them to get the needed vitamins. so ill go with boyds vita chem and pre soak the meat...

i know most like to just still with pellets.. but if i can feed these guys some real meat.. im sure they'll appreciate it

If one is feeding a quality pellet, using a liquid vitamin is pretty much a waste of money.

If one is mostly feeding fresh or frozen then fish will benefit from a vitamin supplement, the one I prefer in that case is Boyd's Vitachem.

Yes, as long as you feed a variety of fresh/frozen to meet the rest of the fishes nutritional needs.

tilapia , shrimp , beef heart... earth/blood worms... anything else?

Agreed, I wouldn't feed beef heart, fish are not hard wired to assimilate the fatty acids found in mammal meat. Also, I would keep pellets in the rotation or you may risk ending up with fish that will only eat fresh/frozen.

In my experience once a fish begins eating pellets they will always crush them. Back when I had pbass I fed pellets only with the odd shrimp or fillet and the pbass no longer showed interest in live food (minnows)

If oscars are losing interest in pellets, you're feeding too often. Cut back on feeding 2 or 3 days a week and they'll be very interested in anything you throw into the tank (and healthier to boot).

I would be remiss if I didn't plug culturing and feeding live red wiggler worms once or twice per week as well ;)

I personally feed different brands of pellet in my feeding rotation so fish will not get tired of eating same pellet. My carnivore's recieve frozen every other day.:)
