Just interested since I've been looking into getting a m and f for a 175 or so that I'm setting up.

They live up to their name... The list of fish that have bitten me in 30 years is a short one, but these guys are on it.

Choose their tankmates carefully if any. Maybe some big Red Hooks or similar as dithers.

Enjoy,
/Kris

I have a 11" Red Terror and he is very bull headed dont let any fish get in his space make sure u put larger fish in with the R T

"They live up to their name... The list of fish that have bitten me in 30 years is a short one, but these guys are on it." LOL!!! Jags are on my list, and oscars....made me laugh when i read that...lol.

Festae are AWESOME cichlids! I personally haven't gotten mine past 5" yet...stupid e-cat killed my last female that was gettin up there....*grumbles*. But i do have a new female and shes growing steadily. Not that horribly aggressive yet, but females are generally more laid back than the males. Don't underestimate them though, still open a can of whoop if they want. The female totally blow the males outa the water when it comes to color. Female Festae are quite possibly the most beautiful SA cichlid out there...the contrast and color intensity is spectacular! They are slow growers though, which can be kinda frustrating, but awesome fish! They are also kinda shy till they get larger....then they seem to snap outa it.

I have no problem with the 3 I have but they are in my 265 with a bunch of other fish that have toods so it all works out ok.

I'm also interested in the caquetaia myersi. These are absolutely beautiful. I've got 175 dedicated for the red terrors. Hoping I just have to get one male and one female and hope to get a pair out of them. Just thought I would add that I'm definetely starting to love the caquetaia. hope rapps will have some myersi soon :naughty:

My Red Terror does live up to his name, beat up my green texas cichlid an green terror to the point where there now in a hospital tank :screwy: . Doesnt bother my Aro though.

Caquetaia myersi is gonna cost yaz a bit more....they are a bit more rare...actually haven't seen them on Rapps site for quite some time now....the spectabile are less rare and this is only the second time I've seen them on there....soooo.....if you see them...jump on it pronto cuz they will go fast. Those kraussii are pretty pimp as well. Why don't u dedicate a tank to each species? Ya know...one wit spectabile, one wit kraussii, and one wit myersi...by dedicate i mean the show fish, you can have other cichlids in there but the emphasis be on them... :D !!

Yeah, I'm definetely finding myself more and more fascinated with all of the caquetaia. Unfortunate about the myersi :( , but I'd really like to have some. Definetely like that idea about dedicating tanks to them. If i get more tanks, I'll def. be sure to do so. Then people will know me as the caquetaia guy, like they know you as the pike guy :)

there is a red terror at a lfs that is a mean sob. the fish constantly has its tank mates in the corner and is always pushing all of the gravel to one side. its big too i'd say 7/8 inches no one wants to buy it
