I'm new to the hobby but would love to get some breeding going on. Would a 5 gallon tank be acceptable to start off trying to breed?

guppies are much easier, but I would suggest you get a 10g. Get 1 male and 3 females, or 2 males and 6-8 females. Remember to keep the water warm and clean, and the fish well fed and stress-free :)

guppies are much easier, mollies aren't really among the easiest of the common livebearers compared to swordtails and platies in my opinion

they're both very easy, but i'd say in my experience guppies are easier, make sure to have plenty of room in another tank for the many babies. also, guppies have a lot more fry, at least mine have. i get 30-40 guppies, and 15-20 mollies. but literally a few males and females in a tank is the extent of the preparation lol, they're breed with no coercion. but make sure not to put just one or two females if you use several males, they will chase and stress them out, always more females than males. i usually wait three weeks and then move the female to a new tank for a week to let her give birth.

My little 5 gallon tank consist of the following: I didn't know what to stock it with so I just freelanced it. I have 1 platy, 2 cory cats, 2 chinese algae eaters, 3 small silver mollies. I plan on getting a bigger tank very soon. But for now, do you think my 3 mollies will produce babies or if I put in there 3 guppies will they not stress and produce? Do these fish all get along ok? Talk to me

chinese algae eaters are pretty aggressive so I would keep an eye on them. they will reproduce anyway, but the babies might have issues staying alive without help

average size goldfish are currently in the tank. I just put 2 pair of guppies in my 55 gallon tank which is very well planted. The 2 pair of guppies are in there with 7 goldfish, do you think there will be a problem breeding these guppies?
